Course Breakdown
First section is foundations. So it's about mindset, productivity strategy and industry context. They all fall under. The one section includes four readings about mindset, the five behaviours of a continuous improvement productivity learn how to increase your personal productivity strategy learn what strategy is, why it matters and how to use it. And industry context ensure that you understand all the moving parts that make up a range of design centric agencies. 1s The goal in this section of the course is to prepare you for getting the most out of the process.
Section Two is about identifying challenges. This section teaches you methods that you can use to identify meaningful problems to solve. It includes a few readings. First, a problem finding framework which helps you identify problems that are strategically irrelevant. Secondly gives you a problem capture which helps you identify opportunities based on the projects and the things that you're working on. There is also a resource in there with ten types of innovation, which is how you can identify improvement opportunities. In this section of the course, the goal is to define problems that are worth solving.
In section three, it's about selecting a specific problem. This part of the course teaches you how to select the most valuable problem to solve today and how to analyze that problem. It includes a few different readings. Firstly, on selecting problems, how can you select the most valuable problem to solve? Root Cause Analysis so learn how to find the root reason behind the problem that you're facing. Personas creating personas to empathize with those who experience and care about this problem with you. Problem Canvas capture a problem on a page so that you can get feedback and you can document problems for future reference. The goal of this section is to refine the problem that you specifically want to work on.
Section Four is about creative idea generation. This stage is about developing quality solutions to your problem that you've selected. It includes a few readings the researching solutions how to gather insights requirements how to turn a problem into requirements how to develop an ideal solution alongside the constraints a systematic brainstorming technique to develop high quality solutions to a problem. The goal in that section is to explore a range of ideas based on that problem.
The fifth section is about selecting a solution. So at this stage, we've done a lot of exploration, we've defined that problem and now we're ready to find that specific solution. In this stage, there are five readings. First is about idea canvas. So summarising your ideas on a one page format to share with people how to identify key assumptions of your solution. Storytelling so how do you tell a story using creative mock ups and creative language? The goal in this section is to refine the way you want to communicate this solution.
Section Six Communicating Your Solution In this last stage, it's about how you communicate your idea. It contains a couple of readings first teaching you how to summarize the benefits of pursuing an idea. The goal with that section is to get approval so that you can pursue the idea and improve the business.
This course is designed to set you up for success. I will also be sharing throughout this course personal stories on how I've tried, failed or succeeded in implementing different things along the course of my design career.
